Carmel Hong, the principal of Compliance Confidence, has over 20 years senior academic leadership experience in the vocational education and training sector. Her experience includes strategic planning, educational profile delivery and evaluation, organisational improvement and change management, mentor and coach to senior leaders and line managers, and financial management of multi million dollar business budgets.
She holds a Master of Educational Studies, a Graduate Diploma in Education and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Newcastle, a Diploma of Quality Auditing, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and has completed many short programs including internal auditing and risk management.
Carmel is a member of the Australian Institute of Management and AUSTAFE. She has been a finalist in the NSW Telstra Business Women’s Awards and was previously Director of Educational Programs at TAFE NSW North Coast Institute.
She is currently a Director and the Chairperson of the Warrina Women and Children’s Refuge Cooperative Society and a Member of the Lismore Diocesan Pastoral Council.
As Director of Educational Programs with TAFE NSW North Coast Institute, Carmel led improvement processes across the faculties that culminated in the Institute winning the 2004 ANTA National Large Training Provider of the Year Award.
Carmel is committed to community development and has been a Ministerial appointment to a range of regional boards and committees tasked to promote regional sustainability and local community development. She has extensive experience in corporate governance and high professional and ethical standards.
As Deputy Chairperson of the Mid North Coast Regional Development Board, Carmel was Chair of a multi-stakeholder steering Committee that oversaw the production in April 2008 of a Mid North Coast Regional Economic Profile: a blueprint for future economic and industry development of the Mid North Coast Region. She currently volunteers on the 2011 North Coast Innovation Festival Mid North Coast Task Group.
